A friendly welcome awaits all students who visit the Learning Resource Centre (LRC) at Parkside Community School.

The LRC is a quiet space where students can borrow books, read and do homework or research. Ten computers are available where students can access Show My Homework using their own personal login code.

Parkside Community School is committed to helping all students to read and enjoy the experience; the LRC has a large selection of popular fiction books for loan on a three week basis. Every year we add a large selection of new titles to our growing number of quality reading books. Each book is issued with its own individual barcode and return date stamp. Students are expected to look after their chosen borrowed book and return it for future use by others.

From Monday to Wednesday every week, the LRC hosts the Buddy Reading Scheme, a teacher-led activity, where selected Year 7 students are buddied with volunteers from Year 10 who are good readers and role models.  The Year 10 students have been trained to help younger ones to enjoy the experience and to see the benefits of reading.

The LRC is open every school day during brunch and lunch times to give students the opportunity to read or do homework.  Homework Club is available to all students from 3-4pm every school day; it is a place where students can complete subject set work and support is available to those who would like it.
